Son of William and Mary (McCune) Appleby

Born 1837  Huntingdon Co. Pennsylvania

died 9 July 1862  New Creek, Virginia

                            Enlisted in Company C, 75th Regiment Ohio Infantry  24 October 1861 Eaton, Ohio. 

                            He was was wounded in action at McDowell, Virginia. (now West Virginia).

                            For a time he was hospitalized at Franklin, Virginia.  He is buried in a common

                            grave (soldiers) at the National Cemetery, in Staunton, Virginia.

Married  7 September 1859  Eaton, Ohio

to Caroline Johnson

Son: Charles  Robert Appleby

Siblings:  Jane, William, Samuel, Robert, Mary E. and Nickley
