Jack Jestiny Appleby, was given his father's name at birth, but was called Jack. He was the second son born to Felix Jestiny Appleby and Frances Myrtle List-Appleby, in Ozark, Missouri, on 22 August 1915, in Ozark, Missouri.  He served in the United States Navy as a Rear Admiral.

Jack Appleby married Amy Butler.  They had one daughter Linda Lou Appleby.  He died in April 1986.   Jack and Amy, are buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
