Dan Preston Appleby
| Daniel Preston Appleby, born
August 9, 1923 in Ozark, Christian County, Missouri. The third son
of Felix Justin Young Appleby, Jr. and Frances Myrtle
List-Appleby. The family moved to Blythe California when their
sons were young.
He joined the US Navy 16 May 1943 and served with the rank of Commander during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. Dan Appleby married Joan Le Simard, daughter of Cyril Thomas and Leora Simard. He died on July 4th, 1999, and is buried in Arlington National Cemetery, along with his wife, Joan Simard Appleby, and their infant son, Thomas Preston Appleby. Surviving daughters are Victoria and Lesli. Cyril Thomas Simard was an Admiral in the U. S. Navy, also. He and his wife, too, are buried at Arlington National Cemetery. |
