Through the line of his great-grandparents, John Appleby and Sarah (Bell) Appleby, and his grandparents, James Appleby (1801-1869)and Syntha Sheppard McMurry, HOMER O. APPLEBY was born to Benjamin Wilson Appleby (1832-1911) and his first wife, Rebecca Angeline McClure in Polk County, Missouri. The date of his birth was 9th of August 1868.
Homer and Lula (Lucy) Watson were married 1889-1890, possibly in Polk County, MO. There were no children to this marriage.
Lula, Lucy or later, called Lou, was born (according to census records) to John P. and Sarah Watson, on 8 May 1868 in Greene County, Missouri. Her parents, coming to Missouri from Kentucky, died in 1925 and are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Willard, Murray Twp., Greene Co. Missouri.
There was another Homer Appleby, born on the 4th of July 1868. His middle name was Glover and he was
the son of Samuel Glover Appleby and Martha Ann Roberson of Greene County, Missouri. The two Homers were Second Cousins. Homer Glover and his wife, Lulu (Ross) and child, Homer Glover Appleby, jr., are buried in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, also. This is mentioned because researches are, sometimes, confused as to the two Homers.
