It was my pleasure to know Violet Beck during the latter portion of her life. She dearly loved

her Myers-Appleby family, and compiled this fabulous personal history of the family of

Darius and Melissa (Appleby) Myers. The book is in some major libraries throughout

the United States.

Melissa Jane Appleby-Myers

MELISSA JANE Appleby, born 20 March 1836 in Wayne, Butler County, New York;

daughter of John and Louise (Annable) Appleby; married to Darius Myers, and had

fourteen children. Her great-grandfather came to America from France. Her grandparents

were Michael John and Clarissa (Phinney) Appleby. Darius and Melissa with their children,

moved from Illinois to Malaga, California, where they developed a family compound.
