Perry Donald Appleby served with the 57th Engineers C Battalion in the Northern Solomon Islands and in the Southern Philippines.
Perry was wounded at Bougainville and America awarded him the Purple Heart. Other decorations were the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbon with two Bronze Stars and the Philippine Liberation medal with one Bronze Star, Bronze Arrowhead, the Victory Metal and Good Conduct Ribbon.
Perry Appleby, the son of Albert Edger Appleby and Leona (Debolt) Appleby. He was a resident of 129 South Mt. Vernon Avenue, Uniontown, Fayette County, Pennsylvania at time of his enlistment.
