Robert B. Gordon and Janet Hill, both born in Scotland.  Robert being the son of Grams 

Borland and Mr. Gordon;  Janet, the daughter of Grams Love-Hill.  The family coming to 

America when Fanny was about six years old.   In 1895, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Fanny 

married James Cahill Appleby.  Years after the death of husband  in 1914, Fanny, at age 71, 

married John B. Smith on 10 July 1947, in East Liberty Presbyterian Church, Pittsburgh, 

Pennsylvania.  She died 13 March 1968, at the Presbyterian Home for the Aged, in  Oakmont, 

Pennsylvania and buried in the IOOF Cemetery, Clarksburg, Harrison County, West Virginia.

    James Cahill Appleby was born 17 April 1876, probably in London, England.  Dr. Appleby  

was a Veterinarian by profession.  He died on 12 September 1914, at age 39 years, six months, 

five days.  James was, apparently,  the first of the family to be buried in the IOOF Cemetery. 

   His eldest son, Robert, was buried there in 1917.  A picture of his grave is on this page.  

Robert was a veteran of the Mexican Border Dispute of 1916.  In 1939, another son, Gordon, was

 buried in the IOOF Cemetery and James' wife, Fannie, was buried there in 1968.  Eldest child, 

Janet, died in 1900, at age 3, but no indication of her grave in the same Cemetery.
