The  Legacy

We are Americans and we are family because over two hundred years ago,

William Appleby chose to leave Ireland.*

He proved his loyalty to his new home in America as a soldier in

the Revolutionary War.

Bits and pieces of history reveal this ancestor of ours, as an honorable and

respected man;

One devoted to his family, to his new Country and to his faith in God.

He was an immigrant from Ireland*, a pioneer in New England and the South.

A widower with six children, then a new wife and five more children.

He survived immense hardships, and when the frontier lands

of Georgia and Tennessee were tamed, he was there.

He knew the importance of learning; material things of value were very few,

but there were books for his children.

He seems to have challenged life, armed with a strong sense of courage,

decency and respect within himself, and when the time came,

this legacy he left for

You.
