Son of Elrey and Juliana Bolles, born 15 December 1895, in Lebanon, Missouri. 

He entered service on December 1917, and served with Company C, 164th Infantry,

1st Depot Brigade with the American Expeditionary Forces. 

On 31 July 1920, he married Mary Alice Appleby, a daughter of David Dillard

Appleby and Anna Emmerilah (Norman) Appleby.  They had a daughter and a son.

Lawrence Bolles died February 1985  in Modesto, Stanislaus County, California.
